“National Model of Mother and Child Healthcare in Uzbekistan: Healthy Mother – Healthy Child” international symposium took place on November 26 in Symposiums Palace of Tashkent’s Ma’rifat Markazi (Enlightenment Center) complex. Organized by the initiative of Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov, the event has been arranged by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with World Health Organization (WHO), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and UN Population Fund (UNFPA). Some 300 world-renowned academics and representatives of international healthcare organizations, including the leaderships of WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, health ministries of around forty nations, including the United States, China, Russia, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Denmark, South Korea and others, attended the symposium. Principal topic of discussion has been the outcomes of cardinal reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan during independence years in public healthcare, including maternity and childhood care, nurturing a healthy generation, shaping a relevant unified national model in this realm. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov addressed the international forum. |
The Uzbek-US business forum was held in Tashkent on 18 February in the framework of the visit to Uzbekistan of Robert Blake, US Assistant State Secretary, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
