Uzbek and Russian Presidents Confirm Commitment for Further Multifaceted Cooperation Expansion

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a narrow-format meeting at the Kuksaroy residence.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of our state warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, noting that one of his first trips abroad after his re-election was to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the issues of further development and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

It was emphasized that in preparation for the visit, productive meetings of parliamentarians, political consultations, the "Innoprom" exhibition, conferences of rectors of leading engineering and technical universities, and heads of authoritative medical institutions of both countries took place in Tashkent. The events of the Russian Art Week continue.

The growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Trade turnover and Russian investments in Uzbekistan are growing, and industrial cooperation is developing. The portfolio of joint projects has reached US$45 billion.

An agreement was reached on launching a Joint Investment Platform to support joint projects of leading enterprises.

The presidents stressed the importance of further development of interregional cooperation.

Today, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Council of Regions will be held under the chairmanship of the heads of the two states.

The leaders also discussed in detail the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of energy, including nuclear power, agriculture, innovation, migration, security and others.

The development of multifaceted cultural and humanitarian exchanges was highly appreciated. A Cultural Cooperation Program will be adopted during the visit.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of education and the training of engineering personnel. It was agreed to open branches of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade in Uzbekistan.

The heads of states also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
