On August 12, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi.
In the beginning of the conversation, the Head of our state sincerely congratulated the Prime Minister and the friendly people of India with the upcoming national holiday – Independence Day, sincerely wishing peace, welfare and prosperity.
Topical issues of further deepening Uzbek-Indian relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation were considered.
It was noted with deep satisfaction that in accordance with the agreements, the practical cooperation is dynamically developing, active and fruitful contacts at various levels are continuing.
Since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover increased by 60 percent, around 40 new joint enterprises and cooperation projects were launched. The current portfolio of prospective projects with the leading companies of India reached two billion dollars. Four branches of Indian universities are also successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
The leaders paid special attention to the promotion and implementation of cooperation projects in such fields as pharmaceutical and chemical industry, digital economy, energy, mining, agriculture, construction, tourism and others.
Issues of developing effective transport and transit routes in the framework of the “North – South” corridor were discussed.
The importance of effective organization of the regular session of the Intergovernmental commission in the city of Tashkent was underlined. It was proposed to organize mutual Days of culture and film, intensify exchanges at the level of regions.
The President of Uzbekistan and Prime Minister of India also exchanged views on the regional agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level events.
