On August 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by minister of foreign affairs of Japan Takeshi Iwaya, who’s currently in our country with an official visit.
The distinguished guest passed to the Head of our state sincere greetings and congratulations of the Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba in connection with Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.
During the meeting, issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Japanese relations of strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
The continuing active contacts and dynamic development of practical cooperation was noted with special satisfaction. The fruitful results of the first session of the Strategic dialogue of the ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries held today, were highly appraised.
Trade turnover volumes are growing, major investment projects with participation of the leading Japanese companies are being implemented. On August 17, the events of the National day of Uzbekistan at the “EXPO 2025” world exhibition were successfully organized in the city of Osaka.
Particular attention was paid to deepening political dialogue, promoting concrete projects of trade and economic, investment, financial and technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Plans on expanding the activities of the Uzbek-Japanese center and creation in the future of a joint university with involvement of the leading Japanese universities were supported.
An exchange of views on international and regional agenda, including organization of an upcoming summit in “Central Asia + Japan” format also took place.
