The final match of CAFA Nations Cup tournament was held at the Olympic stadium. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the game.

National teams of Uzbekistan and Iran met in a decisive match. The main time ended without goals, and the referee gave extra halves. When it seemed that the outcome of the match would be decided in a penalty shootout, in the 120th minute, Khojikbar Alijanov headed the ball into the opponent's goal after a cross from the wing.

Therefore the national team of Uzbekistan became a winner of CAFA Nations Cup – 2025.

The gold medals and the cup to our footballers was presented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and other officials also took part in the awarding ceremony. 

The tournament became a good preparation for our team for the upcoming world championship. Another milestone – the 13 year long winless series of matches with Iran has ended. In the first draw of the tournament in 2023, Uzbekistan lost to Iran in the final with a score of 0:1.

CAFA – Central Asian Football Association, its tournament is held once in two years. In the current tournament, besides the teams of Uzbekistan and Iran, teams from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India and Oman participated.

The first international tournament held at the Olympic town is marked by the victory of our footballers. There is a deep symbolism here: new arenas created for the future generations are becoming the places of fame today. Let this victory become a good sign of new successes of the Uzbek sport in the world arena.
