The historic visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the city of New York for participating in the events of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly.
During his stay in the U.S., the Head of our state gave an address in the general political debates of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, especially emphasizing the role of the UN as a main platform for resolving the most acute global problems, as well as the ongoing irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan.
The Leader of Uzbekistan put forward a number of proposals and initiatives aimed at resolving the most relevant issues of international and regional agenda, ensuring peace and sustainable development.
The central event of the visit was a meeting of the Head of state with the President of the United States Donald Trump. The leaders of the two countries agreed on further enhancing Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also held talks with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Albania Bajram Begaj, as well as the IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank Group president Ajay Banga and Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The President of Uzbekistan also received Special Envoy of the U.S. President for South and Central Asian affairs Sergio Gor, chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on cooperation with Uzbekistan at U.S. Congress, congressman Trent Kelly.
The business program of the visit was also intensive. The leader of Uzbekistan held a “roundtable” with the participation of the U.S. business society, as well as talks with the heads of various leading transnational companies, corporations, investment funds and financial institutes – Traxys, FLSmidth, McKinsey, Go Green Partners, Colorado School of Mines, BlackRock, Boeing Global, Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, Air Products, BNY, Jefferies, NASDAQ, Oppenheimer and many others.
Following the meetings and negotiations a medium-term program of projects was formed. In the presence of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Special Envoy of the U.S. President Sergio Gor, a ceremony of exchanging signed bilateral trade contracts and investment agreements was held, including in the field of critical minerals, civil aviation, chemical industry, energy and other priority areas.
Concluding the visit to the United States, the Head of our state traditionally met with a group of compatriots working and living in the U.S., as well as with “El-Yurt Umidi” foundation fellows studying at leading American universities.
At the conclusion of the events of the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed to the city of Tashkent.
