On October 30, on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini.

Current issues of further expanding the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovakia were discussed.

The positive dynamics of bilateral exchanges at all levels and the strengthening of interaction in priority areas, was noted with satisfaction. 

This year political consultations and the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission were successfully held. Business contacts have intensified and the number of joint ventures has tripled.

The discussions also focused on increasing trade and investment volumes and expanding industrial cooperation projects in key sectors.

An agreement was reached to increase exports from Uzbekistan of textile, leather, fruit and vegetable, and other high-demand products, and from Slovakia – rubber, auto components, pharmaceutical products, and other industrial goods. To this end, it’s planned to hold national product exhibitions and open trade houses.

Special attention was given to the development of digitalization. It was proposed to consider the establishment of a joint center for monitoring cybersecurity in banking and implement advanced cargo tracking systems.

The readiness was reaffirmed to further expand cooperation with Slovak businesses in the production of automotive components, dairy products and other areas.

Prospects for enhancing humanitarian and educational exchanges were reviewed. It was proposed to hold the first Forum of University Rectors of the two countries in Bratislava in 2026, organize tourism exhibitions, and host reciprocal tourism days. The issue of establishing organized labor migration was also raised.

There was also an exchange of views on mutual support at multilateral platforms, as well as on current regional and international issues.
