Today in the framework of the working visit to Washington D.C. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held negotiations with the United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
Issues related to further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, intensifying trade and investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects in various sectors of the economy were discussed.
The steady development of multifaceted Uzbek-American relations was noted with satisfaction. In recent years, trade turnover has grown fourfold and reached almost $1 billion. More than 300 American companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, and a number of major cooperation projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, and innovation.
Mutual interest in strengthening trade ties, creating effective mechanisms for interregional cooperation, and establishing a Coordination Council was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to issues of cooperation in the agricultural sector. The first contracts have already been signed for the supply of soybeans and cotton from the United States, as well as for the introduction of advanced American drip irrigation technologies.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to intensify practical cooperation by creating an investment platform to support joint projects.
