Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reaffirm commitment to further developing comprehensive partnership

15.11.2025

On 15 November, at the Kuksaroy Residence, negotiations were held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a tete-a-tete format.

It was emphasized that the current state visit will open a new milestone in the history of the Uzbek-Kazakh strategic partnership and alliance.

It was noted with satisfaction that in preparation for the visit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, Kazakhstan Healthcare Days, Kazakh film screenings, the Days of Astana, and a number of cultural events were successfully held in Tashkent.

Trade turnover since the beginning of the year has reached 4 billion dollars. The objective is to increase this figure to 10 billion by boosting mutual supplies and import substitution. Cargo transportation volumes are growing, and there are more than 40 flights per week between the cities.

6,500 joint ventures have been established, and major projects are being implemented in priority sectors. In order to develop industrial cooperation, a portfolio of projects worth over 8 billion dollars has been prepared and to promote such projects, the launch of a joint Investment Platform was proposed.

During the talks, particular attention was paid to expanding mutually beneficial partnership in such key areas as energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, IT, and other fields.

The importance of deepening interregional cooperation was highlighted, and an agreement was reached to hold the first Council of Heads of Regions in Kazakhstan in 2026.

The heads of state also exchanged views on issues on the regional and international agenda.
