The President gets acquainted with the modern projects in road construction, energy and urban planning

02.12.2025

On December 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived on a visit to Jizzakh region.

In the beginning, the Head of State got acquainted with the work on creating modern and convenient road infrastructure.

In order to connect the regional center with the M-39 international highway, a new 700-meter overpass and a 4-kilometer road were built at a cost of almost 290 billion soums. The new road is capable of handling more than 14,000 vehicles per day.

Previously, residents had to use a 25-kilometer detour to enter and exit the city. Thanks to the new facility, the distance has been reduced to 4 kilometers, and the problem of congestion on the old section has been solved. This is important not only for drivers but also for entrepreneurs, logistics, and the service sector.

The overpass, constructed using modern technology from metal structures, is designed for 100 years of operation. For comparison, traditional reinforced-concrete structures usually last about 50 years, meaning the service life has been doubled.

Another important aspect of the project is the elimination of the need to block vehicle traffic during the passage of passenger and freight trains. The construction of the overpass significantly facilitates the movement of vehicles, including special transport – ambulances, fire and emergency services.

Information on the implementation of nuclear energy projects was also presented to the President here.

Currently, construction has begun in Jizzakh region on an integrated nuclear power plant that will include two small-capacity and two large reactors.

At this stage, active work is underway to excavate pits for the reactor buildings. In parallel, preparations are carried out for the construction base: leveling the area, concreting, and installing reinforcement. A temporary residential complex has been built for the construction workers.

Plans were presented for localizing the production of construction materials required for the nuclear power plant, as well as for expanding personnel training in higher educational institutions.

The concept for constructing a mono-city for the specialists of the future plant and their families was also shown. The town, located 16 kilometers from the plant under construction, will be designed for 10,000 residents and will include all necessary infrastructure, social facilities, and service amenities.

The President reviewed the master plan and renovation projects for the entrance area of the city of Jizzakh.

As part of the renovation program, it is planned to replace the outdated housing stock with modern, comfortable, and safe buildings. Projects were presented for the construction of an IT center, a crafts center, the reconstruction of certain complexes, and the improvement of busy streets.

- The purpose of our visit to Jizzakh is to identify new growth points in the region and ensure their implementation. Today’s Jizzakh is no longer what it was yesterday. The region’s potential has grown many times over, and people’s attitudes toward life and work have changed significantly. We need to channel these opportunities into concrete projects that will contribute to improving the well-being of the population, - noted the President.

Following the presentations, responsible officials were given specific assignments.
