On March 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Samarkand region.
The Head of State began his visit with a tour of the Youth Creative Town and public park in Samarkand.
Today, Samarkand is rapidly expanding and evolving into a major metropolis. In recent years, new residential complexes and social infrastructure have been developed, and the population has grown significantly. As a result, the need to expand green spaces, create new parks and alleys, and develop recreational areas for residents is increasing.
As part of the national Yashil Makon project, launched on the initiative of the head of state, more than 16 million trees are planted across the region each year. This spring, 6.3 million fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs are planned to be planted, and this work is already actively underway in all districts of the region.
A Youth Creative Town and public park have been developed on a 5.4-hectare site on Uzbekistan Street, formerly the site of a military hospital, with more than 70 billion soums in sponsorship funds.
The site includes five buildings and structures listed as cultural heritage sites, now housing a modern library, a multidisciplinary training center, creative clubs, and centers for artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, robotics, and esports. An information and resource center, sports halls, and an underground eco-museum have also been established.
The youth park is designed to serve not only as a place for recreation but also as a platform for IT education, sports training, and the development of startup projects.
The regional chess federation is also located in the new park, where facilities have been created for training camps and competitions.
Children’s attractions, fitness facilities, a table tennis room, tennis courts, and workout and mini-golf areas have been built. A leisure space for older residents has also been arranged, and more than ten ayvans have been constructed.
The President was briefed on the activities of the German language and examination center, Profi Deutsch.
An important feature of this project is that a TELC examination center has been launched in Samarkand for the first time in Central Asia. At the center, young people can study German and obtain an international TELC certificate. Holders of the certificate will be able to continue their studies in Germany’s dual vocational education system and will also have access to employment opportunities. This year, five more such examination centers are planned to open in other regions of the country.
The Head of State was also presented with information on the work being carried out under the Heirs of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi project. The initiative envisages in-depth instruction in digital technologies and foreign languages for students in grades 8-11. Graduates who successfully complete the program will be awarded special certificates.
The President was also briefed on the work of the advisory centers of Aloqa Bank and the National Bank in providing preferential loans to young entrepreneurs and supporting startup projects. He was also introduced to the Agency for Youth Affairs’ Ibrat Farzandlari, Mutolaa, and Qizlar Akademiyasi initiatives.
The Head of State spoke with young people and reviewed their projects, instructing relevant officials to increase the number of such modern educational and leisure centers in Samarkand.
“In New Uzbekistan, we are establishing high-tech manufacturing enterprises and opening well-paid jobs. And we are doing this by relying on you — the educated youth. Therefore, let every minute of your life serve your future, and let a book be your companion. To gain deep knowledge and find the right path, a person needs focus, patience, and aspiration. May this aspiration in you never fade. The proposals you put forward are in line with the very spirit of our reforms, and I am ready to support all your ideas and initiatives,” the President said.
