As part of the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Japan’s Minister of Finance Satsuki Katayama.
The meeting was also attended by the Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Nobumitsu Hayashi, and the Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Masao Yahara.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan from the Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi.
It was noted that the President’s visit to Japan in December 2025 marked the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the positive dynamics of economic cooperation were emphasized. The volume of bilateral trade is increasing, and major investment projects are being implemented with the participation of leading Japanese companies.
The President of Uzbekistan put forward a number of promising initiatives aimed at modernizing the country’s financial system, in particular, the introduction of artificial intelligence in treasury operations, the digital transformation of finance, and the training of highly qualified specialists in this field.
An agreement was reached to accelerate the implementation of socially significant projects in renewable energy, healthcare, information technology, transport, and agriculture.
