During a telephone conversation on May 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his birthday, sincerely wishing him strong health, well-being, and continued success in his responsible state activities for the peace and prosperity of the brotherly people of Kazakhstan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also emphasized the high level of organization and hosting of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the substantive negotiations held in Turkistan, which gave new impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation among the member states.
Current issues related to the further strengthening of Uzbek-Kazakh relations of good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance were reviewed in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation across all areas. Systematic efforts are underway to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion in the coming years. Investment activity is expanding, including within the framework of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation. Promising projects and initiatives are also being implemented in energy, transport, ecology, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
The Presidents emphasized the importance of developing a new economic agenda within the framework of the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the first Council of Heads of Regions, and other mechanisms.
They also reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
