President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Ilham Aliyev visited the Directorate for the Construction of New Tashkent.
The President of Azerbaijan was briefed on the New Tashkent master plan, the progress of construction, the city’s transport and engineering infrastructure, and plans for its future development.
New Tashkent is being built on an area of 20,000 hectares and is designed to accommodate 2 million people in the future. By 2034, 200,000 apartments are planned to be built.
As part of the first phase of the project, covering 6,000 hectares, modern residential complexes, social and business facilities, and educational and cultural institutions are being constructed. In particular, campuses are being built for New Uzbekistan University, the National Pedagogical University named after Nizami Ganjavi, and other higher education institutions.
The development of the city prioritizes the principles of modern urbanism, a “green city,” and energy efficiency. Plans include placing utility networks underground, introducing energy-efficient technologies, and creating extensive green areas and public spaces.
Transport infrastructure will be an important component of the new city. New bridges, a metro line, and pedestrian and bicycle paths will provide convenient connections between New Tashkent and the existing part of the capital.
In addition, the city will feature government institutions, scientific and cultural centers, hotels, and service and business complexes. Domestic and foreign investors are being actively involved in the implementation of the project.
President Ilham Aliyev was also presented with a model of New Tashkent and briefed on the major facilities planned for the city.
