President reviews efforts to improve mahalla infrastructure and increase household incomes

18.09.2026

As part of his trip to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Diykan Arna mahalla in Nukus district and reviewed the conditions created for local residents.

More than 1,000 families, totaling over 3,600 people, live in the mahalla. Projects underway there are aimed at improving living conditions, creating jobs, and increasing household incomes.

The Smart Mahalla system enables residents’ appeals to be addressed promptly, demographic data to be accurately recorded, and the condition of local infrastructure to be monitored using digital technologies. It also contributes to the development of entrepreneurship in the mahalla.

Particular attention is also being paid to improving social infrastructure. As part of the investment program, a modern kindergarten with capacity for 60 children was commissioned at a cost of 4.5 billion soums. An additional 1 billion soums from the local budget has been allocated for the construction of football and workout grounds.

Under the “One Mahalla – One Product” principle, beekeeping has been identified as a key source of additional income for local families. More than 20 households in the mahalla are currently engaged in beekeeping. Each keeps between 50 and 100 beehives and produces up to 1 ton of honey annually.

The President visited the home of Bakhtiyar Zhubaev, a resident of the mahalla, where he observed honey processing and the production of beehive boxes.

The household sells 2 tons of processed honey per season, generating an annual profit of around 200 million soums. The workshop also produces more than 250 beehive boxes annually, generating up to an additional 80 million soums in revenue.

By the end of the year, the Beekeepers Association plans to introduce beekeeping in another 100 households on a cooperative basis. This will provide a stable source of income for even more families.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke with mahalla representatives, elders, and young people.

The Head of State emphasized that the development of the Aral Sea region and improving the living standards of its population remain among the priorities of state policy. He noted that development efforts in mahallas will be further expanded and accelerated.
