President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has currently been chairing a meeting in Termez with the participation of hokims of the Surkhandarya region and districts, heads of sectors, decision-makers from departments and industries.

At the start of his speech, the President of Uzbekistan revealed a critical assessment of the situation in the regions.

“The purpose and meaning of our policy is simple: whoever works, they enjoy a pleasant life. The state is obliged to create such conditions under which people work freely. To this end, corresponding normative acts are adopted, policy priorities are determined. But there are few executives at the lower layers who are able to fulfill them. Have we created a hokim-training school? There is no positive answer to this question. The local officials of spheres and industries have gone “inert”,” the President complained.

The head of state noted that the region’s growth rates still hardly match its real potential.

“The reason for our third trip to this region for this year is to show all executives, using the example of Surkhandarya, how to identify and make a full use of priority areas and growth points for the accelerated development of regions, taking into account their peculiarities and capabilities,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested.

All ministers, heads of spheres and industries were instructed to prepare concrete proposals for the development of the region by the end of the year and next year and submit to the regional hokimiyat.
