President reviews support measures for vulnerable groups ahead of the Kurban Hayit holiday

21.05.2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals to provide socio-economic support to vulnerable segments of the population ahead of the Kurban Hayit holiday.

Ensuring human interests, strengthening social protection, and fostering an atmosphere of kindness, compassion, and unity in society are among the priority areas of state policy in Uzbekistan. These principles are especially evident during the sacred holiday of Kurban Hayit, which embodies the noble values and traditions inherent in our people.

The presentation included proposals developed by the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the National Agency for Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, and the Vaqf Public Charitable Foundation.

The proposals envision the implementation of large-scale events ahead of the Kurban Hayitholiday.

In particular, plans were presented to cover the costs of surgical operations for 10,000 children suffering from serious illnesses and conditions leading to disability, as well as medical examinations, treatment, and surgical procedures for 2,300 patients with oncological, hematological, and onco-hematological diagnoses. In addition, liver and kidney transplant operations are planned for at least 350 patients.

Particular attention will also be paid to supporting children in need of social protection. Plans were presented to transfer $200 to the savings accounts of more than 8,000 orphans, children left without parental care, and children of military personnel who lost their lives defending the borders of the Motherland.

In addition, to improve conditions for the population, modern ablution facilities at 500 mosques will be reconstructed, renovated, or newly built, while local cemeteries will also be upgraded.

Families receiving state support, elderly individuals without family support and those living alone, and persons with disabilities requiring external care will be provided with food packages.

These initiatives will be financed through 690 billion soums allocated to the Vaqf Public Charitable Foundation.

As part of these efforts, plans were presented to organize charitable meals for socially vulnerable groups of the population, as well as kurbanceremonies at pilgrimage sites and religious educational institutions.

The President emphasized that activities aimed at supporting those in need, providing medical assistance to patients, and assisting children must be organized transparently and delivered in a targeted manner, and issued relevant instructions to responsible officials.
