On September 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received US Senator Steve Daines, Co-Chair of the Senate Central Asia Caucus.

At the beginning of the meeting, Senator Daines warmly congratulated the President and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, wishing them peace, well-being, and prosperity.

The meeting focused on further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States and expanding interparliamentary cooperation.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the unprecedented level of bilateral cooperation achieved in recent years and the high intensity of contacts and delegation exchanges.

Particular attention was paid to expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Major projects in energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies, and industry continue to be implemented.

The parties discussed prospects for expanding interregional cooperation, particularly with the state of Montana, which Senator Daines represents.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional cooperation within the C5+1 format and current issues on the international and regional agenda.
